Wow, Who Knew LuAnn de Lesseps Was Such A Snobby Bitch?
Actually, the contempt LuAnn has for both Alex and Simon has been simmering since season one. LuAnn's never liked them, much less thought they belonged in the same social circle as her (like others, but not nearly as much as the Countless feels). And while I do recall a minor incident sometime ago where LuAnn made a snide remark about having to visit Alex's house in Brooklyn, it's funny that its taken this long for the whole LuAnn vs. Alex feud to finally come to the surface considering that they've been on the same show for 4 seasons now.
Either way, yes I confess getting used to Alex and Simon's relationship is not easy (face it, the way they interact is weird and often lame) and I've often wondered why Alex/Simon are so wanton to be part of an upscale and snooty crowd that clearly doesn't like them, much less looks down on them. Not to go as far to say that Alex has no business being on RHONYC, but instead of trying to be part of the snobby and rich crowd, I think Alex would do a much better job representing all the working, married mom's of NYC who sacrifice a lot to make their marriages/families work (of course, that might be too "boring" for Bravo's taste, but still). Instead, Alex spends a good time trying to change people who have no desire to be changed.
That said, LuAnn's hatred (yes, no one acts like that towards someone unless they have an intense dislike for them) for Alex is over-the-top. LuAnn was not only snobby, but vile and dismissive towards Alex in Morocco and at that restaurant. And LuAnn knows she can get away with it because Alex often has a hard time speaking up for herself (and could be intimidated for LuAnn's size, ala NeNe Leakes). But really, LuAnn knows how much she interfered with Bethenny and Jill trying to patch things up last year. She knows she's been Team Jill from day one (clearly, in part, because of the infamous "Countless" remark made by Mario Singer some time back). But now, by pretending to be aloof and armed with a reason to let her long-festering hate for Alex come out, LuAnn is in a fight she knows that she can easily win, especially with no Bethenny (or any other person for that matter) around to stick up for Alex. Still, for someone who talks so much about "class", I think that LuAnn's treatment towards Alex this season will come back to haunt her in the long run.

ReplyDeleteLuAnn is awful - almost comically rude, self-righteous, and dismissive. But I think Alex is even more painful to watch in the context of this show. She has absolutely nothing that the other women want - they don't want her looks, life, husband, or friendship. The fact that she now endeavors to confront them and assert herself in such earnest "I'm a grown up" fashion only underscores the fact that they can't be bothered with her. It's like Mean Girls with Botox and bankruptcy filings.
ReplyDeleteThe Countless is a pig; she slept her way into a title and she's learned nothing about gentility, nobility or class. She's rude, arrogant, offensive, and condescending. She;s got no talent as a singer and she possesses no redeeming social value. She reminds me of the sitcom Hyacinth Bucket, another misguided nouveau riche who doesn't know the first thing about the territory she aspires to.

Alex, hang in there...it's taken 4 years but I'd rather be friends with you than Luann any day. She's so full of herself I can't believe she hasn't exploded yet. At least Jill is trying (she needs to try harder with Ramona). Keep being you...real. Luann = piece of shit.

It is easy to understand why your husband left you. He probably could not take any more of your self importance and phoniness. There are millions of people who have way less money than you and have way more class than you will ever have. Shame on you for treating people the way you do. I would even go so far as to say that your siblings probably cannot stand you.
ReplyDeleteLuAnns need to prove herself superior to everyone is indicative of her hidden insecurities and feelings of inferiority. She insists on being called a countess in a country where titles do not matter. Her class consciousness shows that she know nothing of equality.

She takes credit for doing things that she doesn't need to take credit for. Humility is a bad word in her mind. She is classless and hateful. Well LuAnn, money may not buy class but after watching your antics I can safely say that one cannot marry into class either! The Klassy Kountess may not be the instigator, but she is definitely guilty of feeding the fire. Alex hit the nail on the head when she called LuAnn haughty and condescending. LuAnn has always treated Bethenny and Alex with contempt because they didn't have the same level of wealth as LuAnn married into. Weekend mommy indeed! The fruits of her "parenting" was out there for the world to see: bong smoking and racist remarks!

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with the comments regarding Luann's lack of class. In addition, I just tuned in to "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" on NBC (episode title is "Bully") and in the opening scenes, saw a semi-nude woman who resembled Luann but it wasn't until I heard her speak that I realized that it was indeed Luann (checking the cast confirmed it)! Lastly, not only is Luann's lack of good manners abhorrent, but her grammar is appalling! She of all people has the audacity to write a book on etiquette!?
ReplyDeleteI agree that Luann's patronizing and haughty condescensions are the result of a gripping insecurity. She and Hyacinth Bucket are exactly the same in this regard, the only difference being that many people enjoy watching Hyacinth.

DeleteI'm so glad someone else caught the "thank you for being here for Jacque and I's first anniversary." She has said Jacque and I's twice this season and it drives me CRAZY. Take out the other person in the sentence. You wouldn't say "I's anniversary." The correct grammar is "Jacques' and my anniversary." I wonder if she will ever get it. I guess they don't teach grammar at Countess Academy.

If LuAnn; who professes to have "Class" then she would never ever consider partaking in insults and verbal jabs. With "Class" you never lose your cool-physically, mentally or verbally. But I am sure we all see that LuAnn has given herself enough rope and there she hangs.

I agree when Alex said in the reunion that she should re-read her own book on etiquette. I totaly agree, she should learn etiquette because she has none. Her book is a joke when she writes about that stuff when all she does is be a total b*tch and talk about other people behind their back.
I'm glad that Alex did defend herself a bit more in the reunion and told the 'Royal pain in the ass' what she thought. LuAnn deserved every bit of that. I still hate her and always will.
Luann disgusted me! Made me sick how condescending she was to Alex! She acts like she is so much better then everyone! I wish I could have reached through that TV and slapped her!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I've found this site because I had to vent my frustrations over the massively condescending, irritating and toxic woman known as the Countess. Take out the O from her title and it would be a name far more befitting. I'm not normally someone who is very judgmental, but there is something about Luann that makes my skin crawl. I really hope she reads these comments and changes her awful ways. If she met me in real life she'd think twice before opening her mouth to eject a passive-aggressive dig. Where's Bethenny when you need her!? Please kick Luann off of Housewives... I despise her more than anybody else in the world. End rant. I just needed to get that off of my chest somewhere other people understood. I'm still in shock she's had this effect on me. What a biaaaaatch!
ReplyDeleteI've only been watching RHONYC for a while but I'm getting increasingly annoyed with LuAnn and her potentious attitude towards other people. She needs a reality check; it's as if she still thinks she is married to the Count or something. I'm incredibly glad I found this page because finally I can see other people agree when I say she is condescending and selfish! I saw the way she tried to meddle when Bethenny visited Jill in an attempt to make up. LuAnn just waltzed in and announced that Jill needed to go because they had a car waiting for them-then she tried to make her selfishness unknown by telling Ramona that she had to do it because it was too painful. She knows absolutely nothing about class...she has the same maturity levels as a 15 year old hormonal teenager.
ReplyDeleteLuAnn is the biggest monster on the show. I am watching Season 4 and I've had to turn it off several times because she is so disgusting. Her treatment of Alex is horrifying. She is the biggest contradiction on the show. As much as she talks about class, how can she be so pompous and have none? I agree with so many of you, that she needs a reality check in the worst way. Her poor children, to see their mother acting so revolting on television. The fact that she keeps the title "the countess" is so pathetic. Alex may be strange, but who isn't. I always thought she brought a human quirky element to the show. She is everything LuAnn could never be: a working mother who spends time with her children and has a husband who loves her. Luann is the most pathetic member of the cast. Really disappointed she is coming back next season.
ReplyDeleteI have only just seen the 4th season of the show in the UK and I'm astonished at how badly LuAnn behaves. What makes me laugh is that the true aristocracy don't even mention that they are titled! It's certainly not something to make a fuss over and real countesses would never be so vulgar as to mention their status. They are genuinely lovely and humble people. Unlike the trashy LuAnn! Kelly is one of the most wierd people I've ever seen and is as two faced as they come. She behaves likr a 12 year old girl who thinks shes a princess. I'm amazed by the fur comment. 'I wear fur but I don't agree with cruelty to animals'! Does she think the breeders just walk up to a mink and say "I like your coat, would you mind just slipping it off and giving it to me?"
